Kiko's A/W14 Limited Edition Collection is called Daring Game and has a poker theme. Among various make up palettes (which are so pretty) they have also released 6 gel effect 5-free nail polishes. The top of the square caps have dice numbers on them, which is a fun poker touch to the packaging.
The four I was sent for review were 1 Prestigious Taupe*, 2 Irresistible Orchid*, 4 Intuition Wine* and 5 Exclusive Blue* (the other two are 3 Suggestive Red and 6 Slick Bluenoir). The formula is said to have been enriched with a high number of pigments to give a dense, even colour with a gel effect and no need for a UV lamp.
The square cap comes off to reveal a smaller lid which is easier to use than a square cap in painting nails I find. The brush is a good length and the perfect width (not too thin and not too fat!) and the polish does paint on very smoothly and evenly with really good pigment. I was impressed by how opaque one coat is, but, as always, I opted for a second coat. It's not the fastest drying polish I've encountered - and I think it would certainly benefit from a quick dry top coat (especially if you're painting before bed as I reckon duvet nails would be a certainty otherwise!) The finish is glossy, but to me has a bit of a plasticky feel to it which I find a bit unsettling.
Prestigious Taupe
Prestigious Taupe is quite a dark taupe - surprisingly I think it was the most opaque of the four I tried. One coat definitely passable. A good colour for autumn, but one I don't think goes particularly well with my skin tone.
Irresistible Orchid
Irresistible Orchid is a bright orchid pink - you can see that two coats actually wasn't totally opaque and you can still see my nail line slightly, but only if you're being really picky! This colour says we're not letting go of summer just yet.
Intuition Wine
Intuition Wine is my joint favourite with Exclusive Blue. A perfect autumnal wine colour. I seem to be collecting this shade from lots of different brands, but it's my go-to autumn/winter shade for a sophisticated will-go-with-anything polish. Love the consistency and glossy finish of this one.
Exclusive Blue
Exclusive Blue has to be one of my favourites just because blue is my favourite colour - and this is a gorgeous royal blue. I find that often this colour in different brands has a matte finish, so I was delighted with this high gloss look. I did use three coats, just to make sure it was totally opaque.
Kiko Daring Game Nail Polishes are £6.90 each and available from www.kikocosmetics.co.uk as well as Kiko stores.
