Whilst I was in Rwanda, Models Own released their new Sweet Shop Collection* - five sweetie-themed polishes to add to their scented range. The colours (should I say flavours?) are all reminiscent of sweets of yesteryear and the scents will I'm sure bring some memories back. The polishes are a mixture of cremes and sparkly jellies and are all priced at £4.99 each (or if you're at one of the Bottleshops you can pick up six polishes for £20).
I love that the polishes have scratch and sniff stickers on the top! (Plus it makes it much easier when they're in my drawer to see which one is which).
Gumballs* is a Barbie-pink creme polish with a really shiny finish (no top coat in the photos below) - and definitely smells of gumballs! Smooth to paint and opaque in two coats, it dries pretty quickly too.
Pear Drops* is a reddy coral jelly polish with really fine micro glitter which reminds me of the sugary coat on pear drops. Although it has hints of pear smell, it actually reminds me more of a 90s Rimmel polish which was supposed to be kiwi-scented (this is obviously not a remotely helpful comment, but nevertheless, that's what I think it smells of!) The photos below show two coats with no top coat - it dries with a slightly glittery texture, so a top coat would make it really glossy and smooth.
Fizzy Cola Bottles
Fizzy Cola Bottles* is a mushroom brown with very fine gold glittery flecks in it - which totally remind me of the sugary outside of cola bottles. It smells delicious and as soon as I painted my nails all I wanted to do was eat fizzy cola bottles. Like Pear Drops, the finish is a bit glittery in texture and could probably do with a glossy top coat. The smell is definitely my favourite of the five polishes.
Liquorice Allsorts* is a jet black creme with a really glossy finish. I thought it was going to be like Black Magic, which is the jettest of blacks I've ever used, but this one needed two coats to be opaque as one was just streaky. In terms of colour, I think this one is my favourite of the collection, but unfortunately I just couldn't cope with the smell of liquorice wafting around me (far too reminiscent of a Bertie Bassett-flavoured drink from my university days)!
Rhubarb and Custard
Rhubarb and Custard* is, like Pear Drops, a red jelly polish with micro silver glitter in it. It's darker and more red than Pear Drops, though. This one has a really stand-out rhubarb smell, with not so much of the custard.
Another fun collection from Models Own - I love the fact that they are doing something different from most of the other high street polish brands and I am sure that these will be a hit with younger polish-wearers. With three red/pink polishes in the collection I suppose they may appeal to older polish-wearers too, but for me I think they're a fun one-night sort of polish as the scent can be a bit overwhelming.
What do you think of these polishes? Do you like the look of them? Will you be buying them? What sweet flavours would you like to see in a polish bottle?!
