I've never tried water decals on my nails before, so when Born Pretty Store asked me if I'd like to review anything I thought I'd give these a try. And I wish I had tried them sooner! They are super easy to use and super quick, which is always a bonus when I'm trying to throw together a mani late at night. In this post I've used Arabesque Lattice Stripe Pattern Nail Art Water Decals #9626* in pattern S062. The decals come on a sheet of 16 (which is just enough for one whole mani, or lots if you just use them for accent nails).
Born Pretty Store water decals - #9629-Y161, #12672-G124A and #9629-S062
I started with a purple gradient - using a base of Models Own White Light I used a make up sponge with Models Own Lilac Sheen and Models Own Purple Glaze to sponge onto the nail (I've got a gradient tutorial here). Once this was totally dry, I cut out the particular decal I wanted from the sheet. Then I peeled off the film from the cut out decal and put it into a little bowl of water for about 10 seconds (I held it in the water with tweezers). Then it's as simple as laying it on the nail (that said, I didn't get it in quite the right place on my ring finger... so perhaps a little practice needed) and soaking up the water with a paper towel or tissue on top. I finished it with a top coat of Seche Vite to seal it on.
I think these decals are really cute, though perhaps the base wasn't the ideal choice. Definitely a quick and easy way to make a mani look more impressive.
