On Friday Models Own announced yet another new collection of polishes - the Speckled Eggs*. I love it when they do these 'surprise' releases - and there's always so much hype and excitement about them. Although these aren't exactly groundbreaking in their originality - Illamasqua brought out a very similar speckled range last year which were pretty popular - they are a much more affordable alternative at £5 each (rather than Illamasqua's £14.50). They are perfect for spring and Easter - and to emphasise their similarity to everybody's favourite chocolate Easter treat, these three arrived in the post with a yummy tube of Mini Eggs.
So the polishes - there are five in the collection, but I was sent three for review - Goose (yellow), Swan (lilac) and Dove (pink). (The other two are Duck - baby blue and Magpie - mint green). They had a lovely formula which was really smooth to paint on - and there was no need for having to 'arrange' the speckles at all because they're pretty dense in the polish. It does need two coats really for full coverage, but that's not a problem at all (I'm interested to see what one coat looks like over white actually). Because the polish is quite sheer, it means that the speckles from the first coat show through to a degree, giving an interesting depth to the final look. I really liked that because of the speckles, these polishes are really forgiving in their application - in the sense that if you don't paint it perfectly, you'd never notice. They dry to a semi-matt finish (shown below), although I popped a coat of Seche Vite on when I did the last one so I could carry on wearing it. And so to the picture-spam... enjoy!
Which is your favourite?
Isn't this picture just so cute?!
