Nails inc Lowndes Court - with Bundle Monster BM18 - French Mani Stamping

Oh dear, another 3 weeks has gone by with no blog post! Far from ideal - but as my excuse before, I'm still in the process of moving to my new flat and it's also the busiest time of year at school as the summer holiday approaches. Only two weeks to go, though, and then I have two months of freedom stretching before me. I can't wait.

Enough of the excuses. Here's a quick little stamping mani. I haven't done any stamping for a long time, but I thought I would get involved with this week's Adventures in Stamping's 'We Stamp on Sundays' - which is French mani themed.  I used a base of Nails inc Lowndes Court (which was in a recent summer must haves box of 10 that Nails inc came out with a couple of weeks ago). It's a lovely deep purple but not so deep you can't see it's purple (if you know what I mean). It dries to a satiny finish and has amazing coverage in just one coat (but I did two because one never feels enough to me, despite coverage). I did a coat of No 7 Quick Dry top coat before using Bundle Monster plate BM18 to do the French tip with Konad special white stamping polish.

I found stamping the French tip frustrating and had to redo about 7 nails - so after the top coat smudged on my ring finger, I couldn't be bothered to fix it! Have you got any tips for foolproof stamping? Let me know in the comments below!

Black, white and red dotticure

Wow, I've had almost two weeks off from posting manis - it's been a bit of a busy couple of weeks... I bought a flat recently and so most of my time has been spent not painting my nails as it usually is, but moving stuff from one flat to another and buying furniture and sorting out flat stuff. Turns out packing and unpacking boxes is also a nightmare for keeping polish on for more than a day. But I was getting slight withdrawal symptoms from not doing a nail art mani for a really too long so I went for something simple...

And then I figured I hadn't used my Rimmel Pro Matte Finish top coat for ages and that it might look quite cool over this mani...

So, I've been trying to work out - it seems that the Rimmel matte top coat isn't available in Boots or Superdrug anymore and nobody seems to know whether it has been discontinued or not (I can't figure out why it would have been discontinued, because it's awesome!) - but the only place we (some fab nail bloggers and I were discussing it last night) have been able to find it is on Asos.com for £4.59 (free p&p).

Are you a fan of matte top coats? Which one's your favourite? We're looking for alternatives if the Rimmel one isn't being made any more!
