Continuing Models Own Week, this is the penultimate polish swatch of the new Models Own Velvet Goth Collection - described as 'matte yet sparkly at the same time, each shade applies glossy and dries down giving a multi-faceted effect that can be seen but not felt. Quick drying, and formulated with the finest glitter shapes and sizes, to achieve the ultra smooth sprinkling of sparkle and velvety finish.'
It has the same cute packaging with the fuzzy velvet lid and usual Models Own bottle. This is another easy-painter - it's quite a thick polish, because of the heavy density of glitter, but not too gloopy. It dries really quickly. The photos below show two coats to make sure it was completely opaque.
Valerian is described as a rich bottle blue. It is packed with tiny glitters - different blues in different size glitters, with some big hexagonal glitter like in Absinthe and Amethyst - so when on the nail, the coverage is fantastic and has real depth. The polish dries matte and pretty smooth (though I wouldn't say completely). Because it's essentially a glitter polish, it's a bit of a mission to remove - I keep meaning to give the tin foil method a go!
I love the whole Velvet Goth Collection but this one is one of my two favourites (this one and Amethyst). It's a really dark blue - in the light it looks lovely, but in the dark it looks a bit black which is a shame. I like a glossy nail so I tried it with a glossy top coat (see the last photo) to smooth out the feel of the glitter.
