First and foremost, I have to apologise for the awful state of my cuticles when I did this mani - they are actually a little unpleasant to look at, so I won't be at all offended if you move on to the next post now! The weather has been playing havoc with them recently so I am moisturising at every opportunity - I also got myself a Spa Ritual Cuti-Cocktail Pen & Pusher to sort them out, which I'm hoping to get around to trying out this week (review to follow!)
So, to the mani. I'm a little obsessed with gradient nails at the moment, having tried them out for the first time recently (with my pink gradient nails). Striping manis are also on my agenda at the moment and this was my first try at one. I got a bunch of striping tapes super cheap (£2.39) from eBay (great if you're happy to wait a few weeks for them to ship from China!).
So I started with a blue and pink gradient (Barry M Gelly Blueberry and 17 Fairy Cake), then popped on some striping tape across my nails and covered it with Essie Penny Lane (my first Essie polish, v exciting!) When it was all dry, I peeled off the tape and put a coat of Seche Vite over it. It was my first time using Seche Vite (I thought that I ought to try it out, since everybody who's anybody on in the nail blogger circuit seems to use it) - but I have to say I've been a little disappointed with it as a top coat (top coat comparison post coming at some point soon, so I'll save further comments until then).
Without further ado... here are the piccies...
Have you ever done a gradient striping mani? I'd love to see them, pop your link in the comments below!
